Update - an old friend, capacity building, singer/songwriter tuesdays @ blue frog

that’s an old friend of mine @hauzkhasvillage. i’d met him while performing on the streets. i don’t know his name but i do know that he’s working as a chowkidar at one of the construction sites there.
this photo was taken a while back, of course. the weather’s been too hot to go out and play. so i’ve been lying low for the past month, holed up at home. but by no means have i been inactive!
i’ve been working on my songs, practicing them everyday - polishing them up, working on my technique. it’s really tough actually, to make something look/sound professional. in the sense that, anyone can make stuff. but it takes a different sort of capacity to take them to pro-level. so naturally, i’ve been working on that too.
got two new songs i’m working on. the list is getting longer - which means playing time gets longer - which means my stamina has to match up to the playlist - which means i have to work out on a regular basis. been hitting this “urban forest” called jahapanah (almost) every morning for this - it’s a forested area where people go to run, work out or generally catch a bit of nature.
it’s a different world out there! uncles and aunties doing yoga in small groups, with unofficial “masterji”s offering them guidance: youngsters like you and me, working out, listening to filmi-songs on their cellphones: little kids playing hide and seek: an occasional fart from the yoga practitioners!: old men sitting on benches, exchanging casual gossip: and me doing my chops in the middle of it all. some of those uncles have nicknamed me “taekwando master” even though i’m as rookie as rookie gets!
(for some of my friends wondering about the “veins”, that could be a reason!)

so that’s what’s been happening. there’s lots more but that’s the gist. incidentally, went for prateek kuhad’s gig last night at blue frog delhi - good stuff! he’s got some interesting stuff there. shantanu pandit was there too, with nirja, doing the opening act. he’s got some serious promise, considering what he talks about and the fact that he’s still in college!

prateek kuhad and vir (on djembe)

ps - blue frog has singer/songwriter night every tuesday so if you’re one, send them your profile! i’m gonna do the same.
good day!
